   The concealed carry course taught by CDT is approved by the Alaska Department of Public Safety.  It is taught by a certified NRA handgun instructor, as required by state statute.  The course covers a wide range of topics to include, motives & methods, safe gun handling, self-defense principles, staying prepared, physical handling, legal issues, handgun storage, handgun cleaning, and the 10 commandments of concealed carry. 

   This course is designed to have application for everyone from beginners to those with extensive experience.  Law enforcement, former law enforcement, active military, and many veterans have taken the course.  This is an excellent course that is designed to be far more than a CC course.  Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate suitable for framing with your driver’s license number and the instructor’s NRA number on it.  You’ll take it, a set of electronic fingerprints, passport photo, and CC permit application into the Department of Public Safety.  CDT will refer you to outlets that can provide the photo and fingerprints necessary.  CDT will provide the application for the permit.

   Most of the Alaska CC classes are taught in Eagle River and Wasilla but CDT will come to your location if you prefer.  We do ask that you have a minimum of 5 students for an on-site class.

“I don’t need a permit to carry here.”  CDT hears that statement frequently.  Take the CC course for the training; the permit is just a side benefit.  Whether you get the permit or not is up to you, but one thing is certain, everyone needs more training.  If you were to compare the syllabus of a tactical handgun course with what CDT teaches in its concealed carry course, you would find very little difference.  Set yourself up for the best outcome; get the training.
